In the first major straw poll for 2012, Colorado Republicans at the GOP's annual Centennial dinner strongly backed Mitt Romney.

According to Morning Score, a daily run-down of the “permanent campaign” by Politico, the top vote getters were:

  • Mitt Romney = 78
  • Michelle Bachmann = 38
  • Tim Pawlenty = 34
  • Mitch Daniels = 27
  • Chris Christie = 26
  • Donald Trump = 26

Speaking of Politico, today the online publication reports that former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is amassing a fundraising army across the nation, including the Starboard Group here in Colorado. The Washington Post's The Fix blog has the full list of the 16-person fundraising team rollout, naming Katie Behnke and Kristin Strohm for his Colorado team.

According to Starboard's website, they have done fundraising for some of the biggest names in CO politics, from rising-star Cory Gardner to Attorney General John Suthers and Congressman Mike Coffman.
