UPDATE: Apparently, Romanoff got two-fer with Joe Biden.  After apologizing for offending the entire Jewish race, he then proceeded to offend Asians by using words like the “Orient” and “oriental”, which is actually a bigger problem since the district Romanoff is running in is 5% Asian.  Ooops.  See Kurtis Lee’s (we’ve missed you, Kurtis) coverage of Biden’s latest gaffe here.  Oh, Joe, please stay as long as you need to in Colorado, we just can’t get enough.

It is a requirement that every surrogate Andrew Romanoff invites to Colorado to help him campaign offends a wide swath of the population?  The Denver Post reported that this Friday, Romanoff will participate in a “small event” with Vice President Joe Biden, who has been busy cleaning up after himself after using a derogatory term for Jewish people on Wednesday to describe predatory lending practices.  Watch the video:

The offending statement:

“People would come to him and talk about what was happening to them at home in terms of foreclosures, in terms of bad loans that were being — I mean, these shylocks who took advantage of these women and men while overseas.”

Thus far, Romanoff has not disavowed Biden’s statement, but Biden has gotten plenty of feedback from Jewish leaders on his anti-Semitism.  According to The Hill:

Abraham Foxman, the national director of the Anti-Defamation League, told Yahoo News that “shylock represents the medieval stereotype about Jews and remains an offensive characterization to this day.”

“The vice president should have been more careful,” Foxman added.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a Romanoff supporter/public figure offended.  Let’s take a stroll back through, shall we?

  • DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz marginalized victims of domestic violence by comparing Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s refusal to support a handout for trial lawyers to domestic violence shortly after she swung through Colorado to stump for Romanoff.  We’re still waiting for him to renounce her offensive statement.
  • Former Montana Gov. Schweitzer offered up some sexist comments a couple of months after stumping for Romanoff.  Does Andy agree?
  • Former Senator, head of the DNC and former presidential candidate Howard Dean said that Republicans aren’t American and should be sent to Russia while stumping for Romanoff.  Also waiting for Romanoff to renounce here.
  • Romanoff’s BFF Nancy Pelosi just offends commonsense globally and, yet, he continues to align her damaging policies.

We can’t help but notice a pattern here – that Romanoff’s guests may represent his particularly far left, insult-throwing ideology, they’re out of step with average Coloradans.
