Formerly known as Castle, Meinhold, Stawiarski and later as Castle Stawiarski, the Castle Law Group is a known foreclosure factory that swindled money from down-and-out Colorado families that thought they were paying to save their homes from foreclosure. The company’s nefarious business practices have been covered for years, but just this week Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman scored a decisive victory against the group. In the State vs. The Castle Law Group case, Colorado’s Supreme Court authorized Attorney General Coffman to demonstrate evidence at trial that Castle Law Group “used affiliated businesses to artificially inflate foreclosure-related costs.”

In a number of cases, the referenced lawsuits had never been filed – but families were still billed more than $40,000 by Castle Law Group.

To confirm, the fees did not exist – but Castle Law Group charged them anyway, essentially robbing families of the money they had to scrape together to keep from losing their homes. Or so they were led to believe.

On top of the clear moral flagrance of these cases, what makes Castle Law Group’s history all the more intriguing are its connections to the Democratic Party. While more than $40,000 was lost by down-on-their-luck Colorado homeowners, Castle Law Group assumed its rank as one of the largest donors throughout Congressman Ed Perlmutter’s political career. That’s right: the same company that took money from disadvantaged families consistently donated heavily to Democratic political races in Colorado.

Now that Ed Perlmutter knows that one of his biggest donors was a foreclosure factory that swindled money out of Colorado families, will he give the money back or, better yet, give it to the families that the money was stolen from?

The answer: probably not. After all, in 2012, both Ed Perlmutter and Jared Polis made wildly hypocritical remarks over the business practices of Bain Capital during Mitt Romney’s presidential race. Democrats take the moral high ground when it suits them, and, then, take advantage of others when they stand to benefit.

Looks like this is just another case of Democrats using their self-serving, shady businesses to fund their own crooked political practices.
