One of the stranger moments of last night’s U.S. Senate debate was when the moderators asked incumbent U.S. Senator Michael Bennet whether he, like Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, embraced open borders. Just watch:

Bennet said to 9News reporter Kyle Clark that he didn’t know what that means and asked Clark to define it for him.

Shouldn’t Bennet know exactly what the concept of “open borders” is if he’s a sitting U.S. Senator?  And, actually, he does know about open borders since he advocated for them himself in 2013 during a debate on immigration in which he marginalized the idea of adding more border security to stem illegal immigration. From the Colorado Observer:

“Many of Bennet’s arguments against spending additional federal dollars to seal the border rehashed statements that his colleagues in the so-called ‘Gang of Eight’ made in the Senate Judiciary Committee last month. He said that the bill would spend as much as $6.5 billion to bolster border security and that larger expenditures would be excessive.”

Come on Sen. Bennet, it looks like you know all about open borders.
