trumpWhile swinging through Battleground Colorado yesterday, Donald Trump made a bit of news during his Colorado Springs stop by calling for Congressional term limits.

With another a populist message, Trump continues his outsider campaign that has confused the media and political analysts, but has endeared him to average voters across the country.  Term limits fit right in with that message, as most Americans support the concept of term limits, and some politicians support the idea as well.

In the 1990s, there was a strong term limits movement afoot in America and many states passed laws limiting people running for federal office to a variety of term limits.  Ultimately, the Supreme Court ruled these laws aimed at federal offices unconstitutional.

In Colorado, we already have term limits at the state legislature level, where senators can serve two consecutive four year terms, and state representatives can serve four consecutive two year terms.
