While we reported that Colorado Republican Senator Cory Gardner was the top candidate to lead National Republican Senatorial Committee for the 2018 cycle, today was the official vote and it was a shoe-in, as expected. Gardner not only brings a youthful exuberance to the role, but has a deep understanding of the Democratic infrastructure, much of which was born right here in Colorado. Not only that, but the GOP pick up opportunities in 2018 could be huge as several of the states that unexpectedly went Trump in 2016 have Democratic Senators up for re-election.

Here are just a few of the tweets about Gardner’s election:

Gardner humorously remarked about his election, “we’ll see if it’s a bed of nails or a bed of roses.” Hopefully, it’s the latter. Nonetheless, Gardner gave his home state of Colorado a shout out in his official statement:

“I am excited about this expanded opportunity to serve Coloradans and make their voice heard on a larger stage. I am honored to have the confidence of the other Republican Senators to take on this leadership role and I won’t let them down.”
