BREAKING: Allison Sherry Buys Beachfront Property In Winter Park From Michael Bennet

U.S. Senator Michael Bennet recently put up some beachfront property for sale in Winter Park, and yesterday Democrat blogger for The Denver Post, Allison Sherry, became its proud new owner.

Per Sherry’s shill piece:

WASHINGTON — Before accepting the traditionally partisan top job at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Sen. Michael Bennet got assurances from all over Capitol Hill that he could carry out the duty without being a bridge burner.

Bennet says he took almost a month to decide whether to take on the role because in part he wanted confirmation, from Republicans in particular, that the job would not imperil relationships he has painstakingly built in four years on Capitol Hill.

Really? Bennet won’t burn bridges by working full-time to defeat Republicans? Sure hope Sherry likes the beachfront property she just bought, because only a fool would buy Bennet’s BS hook, line and sinker.

Sherry has her own obvious conflict of interest with Michael Bennet that other online publications have reported on, but we won’t raise that here. No, we would prefer to focus on a different conflict — her blind loyalty to do CYA for Bennet and Mark Udall.

Sherry is so loyal to Bennet that she doesn’t even bother quoting a single critic noting the impossibility of raising $100 million to defeat Republicans while claiming to be their best bipartisan buddy at the same time.

What we really want to know is: how could Allison afford the property on a reporter’s salary? Guess we should check Bennet’s next campaign finance report to find her moonlighting pay.

BIPARTISAN NO MORE? Mark Udall’s Vote On Harry Reid’s Filibuster Bomb Could Prove Pivotal

Ditching any semblance of bipartisanship, Senate Majority Leader and Mark Udall’s boss Harry Reid, is looking at ditching the filibuster…a move that could shut down DC and do damage to Udall’s carefully crafted “bipartisan” image:

Reports Politico:

A partisan war is brewing that could bring the government to a screeching halt as early as January — and no, it’s not over the fiscal cliff.

It’s all about the filibuster…

Republicans are threatening even greater retaliation if Reid uses a move rarely used by Senate majorities: changing the chamber’s precedent by 51 votes, rather than the usual 67 votes it takes to overhaul the rules.

“I think the backlash will be severe,” Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), the conservative firebrand, said sternly. “If you take away minority rights, which is what you’re doing because you’re an ineffective leader, you’ll destroy the place. And if you destroy the place, we’ll do what we have to do to fight back.”

“It will shut down the Senate,” the incoming Senate GOP whip, Texas Sen. John Cornyn, told POLITICO. “It’s such an abuse of power.”

Reid has consistently floated the idea of ending the common practices of the U.S. Senate that are aimed at creating consensus between the Senate’s members and not allowing any party to ram through its agenda without an opportunity for minority members to be heard.

So much for finding ways to make Washington, D.C. work together. Even as leadership in both parties clamor publicly for bipartisanship, Reid continues to push forward with his attempt to wrangle solitary control of the U.S. Senate.

Ironic, isn’t it? Just 7 short years ago, then Senator Barack Obama proclaimed in an April 2005 speech:

EXCLUSIVE: Romney Raised $2.5M At Record-Breaking, Bipartisan Aspen Fundraiser

Sources tell Colorado Peak Politics that Mitt Romney shattered presidential fundraising records in Aspen while in town on Monday, pulling in a staggering $2.5 million at the event, which included an audience of 20% non-Republicans.

The event was hosted by long-time Obama supporter Susan Crown, who flipped on Obama in 2011 over the issue of Israel, according to The Washington Post. Crown's father and brother continue to support President Obama, with her brother James bundling between $200-500,000 for his re-election campaign by the first quarter of 2012.

Prior to Romney's event, the previous record for GOP fundraising in Aspen was set by Texas Governor Rick Perry, who held an event in August 2011 for his Presidential campaign that pulled in $175,000, which was a new record at the time, according to The Colorado Statesman's Jody Hope Strogoff.

During the fundraiser, sources say, attendees who were not registered Republicans were asked to raise their hands and 20% of the audience's hands shot up.

Colorado has proven to be a strong fundraising base for Governor Romney. In June, when Romney and the Republican National Committee outraised President Obama and the Democratic National Committee by $35 million, Colorado "dramatically exceeded expectations" in donations to Romney, according to Politico.

By comparison, the last time Obama came to Colorado for a fundraiser, in May, 150 people failed to show up for his fundraiser.

With Colorado likely to be a closely fought battle between Obama and Romney, the fundraising disparity in the state between the two campaigns can't be welcome news to Team Hopenchange.
