Nothing wrong with Dick’s overall performance the last four years. Still think you can’t run the State and a campaign at the same time (Schaeffer dig). It would be nice to have new leadership, new ideas new direction. Can we find someone who will raise money AND connect with the energy of the tea party/9-12 groups. They’re the volunteer base for elections.
I’ve had numerous conversations with campaign people accross the state, at all levels and sizes of campaigns, tea party, conservative, and RINO…none of them have said what a great job the tea-party/9-12 groups did as far as volunteering is concerned. They never made phone calls, never knocked on doors, never did any voter outreach, and never did anything but show up hold signs and ask a bunch of questions and criticize mostly. They are NOT a volunteer base, they are just another group of people desperatly seeking attention. Until they step up and actually work, I could care less about pandering to them.
The Tea Party’s made quite an impact. I’d rather be nice to them so they’re on our side. There’s nothing guaranteeing they’ll pick Republicans. I think the next chair (Wadhams or otherwise) should be someone who can manage to “tame the beast,” and maybe get them convinced to play ball instead of going rogue.
I appreciate all the effort Wadhams put into his job, but I think it’s time for a change after the disastrous gov’s race in the last election. I hear Bob McConnell is looking for a job…
isn’t even a Republican anymore…
He’d probably become a Republican again if he thought he had a chance at winning!
He probably does…think. Maybe good ol Sara will come to his rescue again! Wadhams might not be the best candidate, but he has a solid track record of success. He’s been a great spokesperson for the party and has earned support unlike the others who just “assume” support.
Maes is a crazy person and McInnis had his own pile of problems. How do you figure that’s Wadham’s fault?
That’s not exactly what I had in mind when I said the gubernatorial race was a disaster. I think Wadhams messed up because he appeared hesitant and didn’t fully back the RIGHTFUL nominee.
That’s really all I can say here.
The only “right” in politics is the right to run for office. Which Dick allowed, despite the protests. That doesn’t mean we should sit back and watch you act like a jackass and embarrass the title of “Republican nominee”. Too many people work very hard to help elect the person with that title to be tainted by one’s own self-inflated ego (or egos in the case of the 2010 Gov’s race).
