Representative Ed “Classless” Casso–a man so left wing and beholden to union leaders that he can't even play nice with the Democrat Party, wants to allow unaffiliated voters to vote in primaries.
In a good sign for his re-election, his bill was defeated. Had it passed, unaffiliated voters might have had the chance to end his career before November 2012.
This is the state rep that is so nuts he said people who don't support Obamacare want “poor children to die like dogs.”
He was removed from his Vice Chairmanship of the Business Affairs and Labor Committee after he issues a press release saying he wouldn't cry “crocodile tears” over then-Governor Ritter's decision not to seek re-election. While we might agree with him on not liking Bill Ritter, his feelings stemmed from his beleif that Ritter wasn't pro-labor enough.
This is the same Governor Ritter who signed a backdoor collective bargaining plan for state workers, which Sen. Shawn Mitchell has been trying to fix.
Rep. Casso–thank your lucky stars that your bill failed. You may survive general elections in your lopsided district, but open primaries are not your friend.
I’ve heard complaints since this jerk took office. My friends in Adams tell me he doesn’t even bother to run a campaign his district is so gerrymandered.
While the Dem electorate seems to have embraced a realpolitik about primaries, Republicans have not always done so. Having independents/unaffiliateds in primaries like NH does, would bring the GOP better general election candidates. It would also make the unaffiliateds voting in primaries feel more loyalty to the party in whose primary they voted.
But I love the irony that a union lackey is shilling for this bill.
