So, I’ll address the flaws of this diary instead.

The point is that rural unemployment is terrible, and that’s a fact. But then you say that this is going to impact Obama’s election chances in the state.

Well, given that Colorado, like 48 other states, designates all its electoral votes to the person who wins the most votes, then it only makes sense to look at the state as a whole. And, as you say right up front, unemployment is down statewide. And as we know, economic improvement always helps the incumbent.

The GOP might try to rely on some social issue on the ballot (like the eggmendment) to GOTV, but that one’s a major loser. Given the total lack of enthusiasm for Mitt Romney among Republicans, you’re going to have to pray hard (and bet against America) for something major to go wrong, if you want to defeat Obama.
