Goons.  Liars.  Terrorists.  These are not words that Aurora Sentinel editor Dave Perry used to describe the Boston Marathon bombers in a column last week, but rather these were modifiers that he attached to his description of the National Rifle Association.  Here’s another excerpt:

“No, no, no. Not the wannabe sick kid who blew up the Boston marathon or the freak that’s mailing ricin-laced letters to the president. I’m talking about the real terrorist threat here in America: the National Rifle Association.”

Those who cannot support an argument with reasoned thought, usually resort to name calling and ad hominem attacks.  Perry takes this to a whole new level with the extreme language that he uses to describe the NRA, its leadership, and its membership.

Just to make sure that readers did not mistake his language for hyperbole, Perry takes the step to emphasize that this is what he truly thinks of the NRA, and suggests that our judicial system sends “the guilty monsters directly to Guantanamo Bay for all eternity and let them rot in their own mental squalor.”  How enlightened.

Perry seems upset that the U.S. Senate did not pass a law to expand background checks, although these types of questionable checks and gun registries would not have prevented Sandy Hook, the Aurora Theater shooting, or many of the 500+ murders that occur on the streets of Barack Obama’s home town last year.

One has to wonder if Perry even consulted with NRA educational materials, press releases, or voter information before he published that bizarre column.  While the NRA is against useless measures such as expanded background checks, it is focused on improving our communities through meaningful actions such as “swift and certain prosecution of violent criminals; securing our schools; and fixing our broken mental health system.”

If you can bring yourself to read the entire article, it is worth it, even if just to grasp the utter contempt that the left holds for citizens advocating for their rights.
