David Sirota stood in solidarity with his former boss Bernie Sanders by losing the Oscars election for best original screenplay in cowriting one of the worst political satires we’ve seen since that documentary series on Hillary Clinton.

The Denver political hack and husband of state Rep. Emily Sirota fell short of the glory by losing out to a real movie, “Belfast.”

His made-for-Netflix movie called “Don’t Look up” in which Sirota was granted a writing credit, starred a bunch of famous people who died when the world (and mercifully) the movie ended because “more” wasn’t done about the climate.

Gov. Polis was the only Colorado politico we could find who actually recognized Sirota, publicly, and wished him luck.

But it was not meant to be.

The Twitter drama queen and champagne socialist took home only memories, and Colorado tried once again to forget about him.

And then this happened.

Sirota persevered and tried vainly to push his movie’s message back into the spotlight.

Seriously dude? Your stupid movie lost, and Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on live TV and twice dropped the F bomb.

We’re surprised Sirota wasn’t more sympathetic to Smith, given what happened that time Emily Sirota lost a Douglas County school board race years back and an education reporter had the audacity to try and get comment from her on election night.

At a subdued gathering for Sirota at a Beau Jo’s Pizza, efforts to get comment from the candidate were blocked by her husband.

“Do not go near her,” cautioned David Sirota, as she stood nearby sipping a glass of wine. “You do not work for a real news organization.”

Another Sirota supporter, Cherry Creek News and North Denver News publisher Guerin Green, followed this reporter out of the restaurant, saying, “It’s a good thing this isn’t 100 years ago. You’d be hanging from a tree.”

Reaction about the more important event of the night from noted Coloradans was swift, if not perhaps a bit hasty.

From Democrat state Rep. Leslie Herod of Denver:

Ouch. Or maybe not. Looks like she’s since deleted that Tweet.

Also a little too fast with his fingers was Alan Franklin, who tweeted, and later deleted this:

Denver’s favorite socialist Democrat councilwoman pretended it didn’t happen.

While Chase Woodruff over at Colorado Newsline is spinning leftists conspiracy theories:

Woodruff is nuts if he thinks a bona fide comedian like Chris Rock would be part of such a bullshit, cancel culture stunt.

Jokes and medical conditions aside, Jada Pinkett Smith is a beautiful, intelligent, accomplished and very successful woman.

Her husband, however, needs to grow up.

Even Tay Anderson recognizes that.
