The prosecutor who pleaded for a truck driver’s jail sentence to be reduced from 110 to 10 years for killing four people in a fiery crash is letting another truck driver off with misdemeanor charges for last week’s fatal six-vehicle collision involving Mexican driver Ignacio Cruz Mendoza.
Cruz Mendoza. was in this country illegally and driving the commercial truck despite having been deported numerous times over the past two decades.
He was hauling a load of steel pipes on a tractor trailer that had not been inspected since 2020, according to published reports.
The pipes spilled onto five vehicles killing one person and seriously injuring others, and blocked Hwy 285 near Conifer for 12 hours.
The office of First Judicial District Attorney Alexis King told 9News they are “not pursing more serious charges based on the evidence they have at the time.”
Cruz Mendoza faces lessor charges of careless driving, one count resulting in death, three counts resulting in injury.
Stating the obvious, King is a Democrat, as is Gov. Polis who was lobbied by Kim Kardashian to grant clemency to truck driver Rogel Aguilera-Mederos back in 2021 for killing four people in the I-70 crash.
Aguilera-Mederos, a Cuban immigrant, will be up for parole in 2026 after serving just five years.

On 13 December 2021, Judge A Bruce Jones sentenced Aguilera-Mederos to over a century in jail for his role in a pile-up on a Colorado highway in 2019. Aguilera-Mederos was found guilty of 27 charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide.
A Cuban immigrant who was 23 at the time, Aguilera-Mederos was driving an 18-wheeler semi-truck along Interstate 70 in Lakewood, near Denver, for his job with a trucking company. After the vehicle’s brakes failed, it crashed into 28 cars, causing a huge explosion and killing four commuters stuck in rush hour traffic.
It’s just gut wrenching that so many progressives have such little regard for human life and the law.
With Democrat politicians in charge, our immigration system is a joke, and our judicial system is on life-support.
