It’s often said that Democrats’ herd mentality runs deep, but rumor has it their demand for loyalty cost a young staffer his job yesterday. The rumor mills went into overdrive when a young Democratic aide to Democratic Sen. Irene Aguilar was fired on the spot simply because he naively visited a buddy on the Republican side, hoping to check out the Republican aide’s new office space.
This is particularly disheartening because national unemployment among 20 to 24 year olds stands at nearly 10% and among 16 to 19 year olds at nearly 50%.
This week hasn’t brought good news for Democrats on the jobs front. Make that just one more Colorado job down the toilet due to the Democratic idiocracy.
Tyler … You made news in Drudge Report … You might get lucky and find a job along conservatives as they are tolerant to personal affiliations unlike your disgraceful former boss. Hope this makes you realize who is the people’s party rather than those who follows blind ideology, it must have been a rude awakening for you, but welcome to the real world after college!
Charles Buchanan could you refute more positions no one has taken here? I often find it easier to sway someone to my side by insulting them. I see you have perfected it. Btw, for your "fact" to be true you have to extend it to federal, state and local employees. That number is lower under Obama than Bush. Just federal employees on the other hand, the number is higher under Obama than Bush. And since the POTUS has nothing to do with state and local employment….. "dramatically reduced" not even close. And if all of a sudden all Republicans turned into WF Buckley, you would be begging those guys to get back to the principles of 2013 Republicans. What you actually want is Republicans with zero principles that vote with Democrats.
Charles Buchanan Plus what religion you are in. And the race and sex and voting history of all your family and friends and anyone you have dated. Also take a loyalty oath. Full disclosure, you know. Yes, if there is any chance you ever have voted the "wrong" way in a any way is more than enough cause. I'm sure Charles would agree that its just too bad we dont have re-education camps so you can see where you went wrong and hopefully redeem yourself. The absolutely last thing we want is ANY POSSIBLE dissenting voice working for a politician. Next thing you know, you lose your echo chamber and then where would we be?
Rumor has it? We have a little bit of hearsay from a young man who undoubtedly if the story is true as told should be quite hurt and in fact should probably seek legal action.. However we only have his word, there is no other side of the story being offered, no rebuttal, no investigation.. Just a bunch of waaaaaaaa.. Anyways, the aftermath of a dumb hit piece like this is that a bunch of dummies like you and me show up and use this weak story to talk about how shitty the other guys party is.. Wake up people, it's BS like this that moves us farther apart than the policies do.
Charles Buchanan, I know several democrats that vote in Republican primaries just to try and rig an election by helping the WORSE candidate. Happens often here in Ohio. So, voting GOP is NOT a reason to fire, because some Democrats endorse doing it.
Don't know about Tyler's voting habits, so I will not include his past in this, as I do not know his motivations nor his politics. All I'm saying is party voting is something that can be pretty fluid in primaries.
And we will let him have liberal friends.
You seem like a stand up guy. You will have no trouble finding work. Good luck to you.
I think its sad that we are told to 'pick sides'. Life isn't all black & white. There is no 'right party' or 'wrong party'. There are good & bad aspects of both parties. My grandmother votes democrat in every election, because that is what she was 'raised' to do by her parents. Yet she doesnt agree with any of their policies. We live in a society that is sadly uneducated about government, economic policies, & politics. They vote on 'popularity', as if they are voting for senior class president. And then they complain because their taxes are too high, their job gets shipped overseas, or their neighbor on welfare is eating better than they are. But when election time rolls around, they go right back to voting into office the same idiots that caused those very things to happen. I'm so sorry you lost your job. I hope you find a new job soon. My 20 year old son is in the same situation, though he didn't even get to finish college (his college program requires a 'sponsor' to give him on the job training- & his sponsor downsized due to the economy. He got in 1 year of school before they dropped his sponsorship, so he has no job, no degree & $10,000 in student loans to repay)
I hope this helps you see that conservatives are not the intolerant right-wing nutjobs that the msm portray them as. I'm not saying their aren't some out there. But its important to point out that their are intolerant nutjobs in both parties.
Again, tolerance is lost on the left. If the Honorable Senator had full disclosure of your past and your affiliations as you say she did and she hired you anyway, this is just more proof that they are not the inclusive party they say they are.
You are stuck in the untenable position of not being a total partisan, seeing life and issues without the blinders that so many wear so they don't have to acknowledge that people can have differing view points and still do a good job. We shouldn't have to "pick" sides to be involved in the political process, that is precisely why so little is accomplished within the hollowed halls of the capital.
As you grow older and witness first hand the lack of forthrightness in politicians, perhaps you will find a different field to pursue.
Remember, the leader of the Democrat Party (Barack Obama) refers to his political opposition as "enemies". I wouldn't expect any tolerance from his fellow Partisans either.
GOP bubble-boys have never met a hackneyed cliche' they didn't embrace and parrot with the utter confidence of a complete ignoramus. The last two Democratic Presidents have dramatically reduced the number of federal employees.
The GOP you imagine is not the GOP that exists. There is no modern-day Eisenhower, just reactionary know-nothings.
I'm begging you guys to get back to principled conservatism ala WF Buckley.
Tyler Drum respectfully, if I was a Senator in a highly contentious legislative session, given the nature of dirty tricks that the GOP regularly engages in, and I discovered you were visiting the opposition and chatting with a friend. I would have fired you too. You needed to make it really clear where your loyalties are. Even if she knew everything about you prior to that, perhaps that was enough of a question mark that she didn't feel comfortable with you anymore.
As I said, it's her right to feel comfortable with her employee. Given your past you should have done everything in your power to make her feel comfortable with you. That doesn't include visiting and chatting with GOP aides in GOP offices. I have GOP friends/acquaintances that I hang out with/chat with in my off-time, but I would have never considered giving the impression of impropriety by chatting them up during my work hours right after I had been hired.
Beyond that, Log Cabin Republicans? Come on, man, pick a side already.
Yes I have interned for Log Cabin Republican when I was a Freshman, a fact I am proud of and proudly informed Senator Aguilar about in my interview. I am also by no means a Republican mole. If I was I could have easily gotten the job with my Democratic credentials because I have volunteered for many LGBT organizations and Interned for a Democratic Senator last session. If I was a mole I also would have applied for the job and not have gotten a called last week because they were short on aides and wanted to know if I could come in the next day for an interview.
I was fired yesterday simply because on my first day Senator Aguilar realized I had a close friend who is a Republican aide and the Democratic Leadership saw that as a threat in some way. The story written about me today is completely true and if you would like to get to know me before you write another lie about me you can email me at [email protected]. Thanks
Me and Senator Aguilar talked extensively about my past, She knew. If she had a problem with it she shouldn't have called me last week without me even applying for the job. You know Senator Aguilar has access to much more information about me then any of you so these things where not news to her yesterday when she fired me.
Maybe you should have disclosed your affiliation with the GOP before you were hired? Legislators have the right to dismiss their aides for any reason. I think the fact of your recent history voting in GOP primaries and working with the party is more than enough cause.
Next time you apply for a job: full disclosure. Just a thought.
Sorry to hear that you were treated so unfairly. This is where ideology and reality often split apart. Tolerance is not something the left is known for and you learned it the hard way. Hope you find something that will be as interesting as working around the legislature.
No choices only control. This should be a wake up ca.
Sheilah, Democrats aren't Leaders. They take their orders BLINDLY from their National Committee, much like Communist did in the old USSR.
I am hiring. Sorry to hear what happened to you, but you might not be ready for a career change. It took me about 20 years to forego office politics in favor of working for myself. It's much betterer [sic]

Does not surprise me at all.
Anyone have a job for me? I'm the aide Sen. Aguilar fired yesterday.
CERTAINLY
Resistance is futile…if you've sold your soul to the Democrat's and their big government utopia, you must not associate with the enemy….
Well, he got his first real experience with the tolerant left.
I guess that shows just how partisan Senator Irene Aguilar truly is. True leaders NEVER put party before people! Sad….sad….sad….
Invite his friends on that side also:) Sad to see she wants control if his life. That's a democrat for you. Insecure!
he should.. and most likely he will…
Vote all of them self serving leaches out! None of them work for us anymore!
He should become a Republican then.
