Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson had the support of every top Democrat in Colorado the moment President Biden nominated her for the Supreme Court, long before the U.S. Senate reviewed her actual record or vetted her in public questioning.
They only needed to look at her to know she was qualified.
Judge Jackson is the real deal. Honored to join other State AGs in supporting her nomination. https://t.co/2zqR6eA1G6

Now that her confirmation hearing is finally underway this week, we see there is much to be desired in this candidate as a life appointment to the highest court in the land.
Common #SCOTUS nominee hearing stuff: teaching senators how lawyers, courts work. And so many senators are former lawyers…or so they say… pic.twitter.com/1BRpjtreJF

There were many awkward, over-coached moments, like when she discussed four of her former clients who were Guantanamo Bay detainees, and wrote this in a legal filing:
Sen. @JohnCornyn: “Why in the world would you call Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and George W. Bush war criminals in a legal filing?
Judge Jackson: “I don’t remember that particular reference…I did not intend to disparage the President or the Secretary of Defense.” pic.twitter.com/jiUqky4aOj

Discussion about her time as a Gitmo lawyer, both in private practice and as a government lawyer, then went off the rails when U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin turned the conversation to closing the military detention center that houses accused Taliban terrorists, and transferring them all to Colorado.
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham’s meltdown in response was epic.

The exchange prompted Colorado Republicans to ask where the Hell Democrat U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet is when Colorado needs his attention to Senate matters?
A leading Democrat is once again suggesting sending hardened Gitmo terrorists to Colorado. Where is @SenatorBennet? Does he agree with his Democrat Senate whip?
Colorado doesn’t want terrorists moved here. #copolitics https://t.co/Q7JLhBJHT8

The answer: Bennet was operating on autopilot, staying on message while not paying a damn bit of attention to the actual confirmation hearings.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson would be the first Black woman and the first public defender to serve on the Supreme Court. We cannot lose sight of her historic nomination.
She is a well-qualified nominee, and I look forward to hearing more from Judge Jackson this week. https://t.co/XeTUaptz08
— Michael Bennet (@SenatorBennet) March 21, 2022
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we heard that already.
Campfire Colorado was quick to remind that Bennet was for moving Gitmo detainees to Colorado until he was up for reelection in 2016, and then he was against it.
Since Bennet isn’t busy with the actual confirmation hearings to learn about the Supreme Court nominee’s actual record, just biding his time until he votes in favor of her, perhaps he could look into this momentum to once again relocate Gitmo prisoners to our backyard?
