U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet has scrubbed the endorsement of a Colorado state senator from his website after the fellow Democrat was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly using false information about his voter registration address in a 2020 election.
Fox News reports:
Bennet used to display his endorsement from Democrat state Senator Pete Lee of Manitou Springs, who was indicted by a grand jury in August for allegedly registering to vote from his daughter’s condo several miles from his home so he could run for office.
Following the indictment, Bennet appears to have scrubbed the endorsement from his website.
Peak Politics reported earlier this year that Lee admitted to the false residence address during a phone conversation with an unknown woman on speaker.
That phone conversation in 2020 was recorded through a web video conference window Lee had inadvertently left open during a Senate session.
Peak first obtained a copy of the recording and printed the transcript in which Lee confided he had hired a criminal defense lawyer, which was referred to him by Colorado Senate President Stephen Fenberg.
Peak Politics was contacted by the El Paso County District Attorney following our publication of the recording and transcript.
Lee’s lawyer tried to have the indictment dismissed over technical language, but it didn’t work.
2022CR4096 (Mr Lee) Despite this correction from the Colorado Supreme Court Attorney Registration Office, the evidence continues to support a determination that probable cause exists to reasonably believe the defendant committed the crime charged in the indictment.

Bennet’s campaign has not responded to questions from Fox News about his rejection of Lee’s endorsement, and we doubt he ever will.
