Lest there be any confusion about the direction U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet’s office will take during his new term, he’s hired the former Bureau of Land Management (BLM) director responsible for cancelling Colorado oil and gas leases to be his new chief of staff.
Neil Kornze led the agency under Barrack Obama. In addition to banning oil and gas across 35,000 acres near Rifle, Kornze believes locking up land from public use is the key to solving climate change.
It never ceases to amaze that every far-fetched idea held by environmentalist for the last half a century is now championed as necessary to save us all from extinction in the next 10, 20, or 30 years — depending on who one believes.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel informs that Kronze also advocates for access to housing as a solution to homelessness.
Duh.
The crowning achievement of Kornze’s tenure at BLM would be the Desert Sunlight Solar Farm in California, where power blackouts and brownouts are now the norm.
Kornze replaces acting chief of staff Amy Friedman, who will instead serve as deputy chief of staff and state director.
