Will Jared Polis’s presidential aspirations have a moderating effect on which whack bills passed by our far-out left legislature will get his signature to become law?

Some including Jon Caldara of the Independence Institute believe that’s how the governor is positioning himself to rule, as all Democrat eyes are scanning the horizon for someone … anyone to save them from running their weakest strong candidate that is Joe Biden in 2024.

Polis’s hand will likely be forced this session to decide on TABOR-killing bills, legislation banning as many guns as progressives can think of, and all manner of rent-control and anti-housing measures, Caldara writes on Complete Colorado’s Page Two.

Now given his first four years in office, Gov. Jared Polis has shown no sign of vetoing anything that would sizeably upset the left wing of his party. For four years Mr. Polis has been a doormat for the economy-killing, utility-bill-hiking left. And since the last election, the left wing of his party has only moved more left.

I see only one possibly moderating factor now. Jared Polis is a very ambitious man who has spent much of his time and treasure grooming his national image as a new and different type of business friendly, libertarian-ish Democrat. Of course, he wants to be president.

If it’s the case Polis is angling himself for a presidential run — and he most certainly is — Polis’s hand this legislative session will be guided by that which he believes will win him the most adoring fans in the national media.

Polis will run opposite of Biden’s far-left flank, positioning himself as an independent soul with a feisty dash of libertarianism.

Polis can’t afford to be the progressive from Boulder if he has any political spirations for 2024, or 2028.

And for that, Polis’s ego is all that stands between our sanity and out wallets, and the Democrat-controlled legislature for the foreseeable future.
