State lawmakers say they will investigate the ethics complaint against Faith Winter, the Democrat assistant majority leader in the Senate, for showing up intoxicated at a public hearing to defend one of her controversial bills.

But will this be a legit investigation?

Or are lawmakers just going through the motions to appease the pissed off community of Northglenn where Winter’s drinking problem was exposed?

Here’s a clue; the panel will be chaired by Democrat socialist state Sen. Julie Gonzales.

Also, the committee deck is stacked with three Democrats and two Republicans, so …

PeakNation™ will recall with some sympathy that Winter was so intoxicated at a public hearing in Northglenn about a halfway house for sex offenders that would be located near a school, that officials reportedly told her not to drive home.

She apologized the next day and claimed to be checking herself into rehab, but rehab turned out to be her own home, where she ducked legislative duties for a week.

The Northglenn City Council unanimously passed the ethics complaint and filed it in early May with the state legislature.

In addition to Gonzales, the investigatory panel includes Democrat Senators James Coleman and Dylan Roberts, and GOP Senate Minority Leader Paul Lundeen, and Republican Sen. Bob Gardner.
