It’s not just the taxpayers of Sanctuary City Denver who are saddled with the costs of Democrats’ open border policies.

The state legislature led by the same party voted this year to stick all Colorado taxpayers with an additional $27 million tab to cover housing, education, a legal defense fund and other migrant costs, reports Republican House leaders.

The GOP leaders released the spending report just hours before “Border Czar” Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump were set to appear in their first and possibly only debate that will include whether the border should remain open to mass migration.

The GOP report is a stark warning to all Colorado taxpayers that highlights the enormous financial burden of mass migration, and how it drives up other costs for hardworking families.

The report was released with comment by House Minority Leader Rose Pugliese, Assistant Minority Leader Ty Winter, and state Reps. Ryan Armagost and Gabe Evans.

“Colorado taxpayers are footing the bill for policies that not only encourage illegal immigration but also contribute to skyrocketing costs across the board,” Pugliese said. “The Democrats have funneled millions of taxpayer dollars into programs that provide services to illegal immigrants while the cost of living continues to rise for everyday Coloradans.”

It’s not that Coloradans don’t feel compassion for everyone on the planet who wants to migrate to the U.S.

But U.S. citizens are also struggling to find better jobs and make more money to keep up with the inflated prices of everything since Biden and Harris took office in 2021.

Open borders and mass migration have wreaked havoc on this country for too long, and it’s important that Coloradans see how much these policies are costing them.
