Coloradans are wondering why it’s taking so freaking long to count the votes and call the congressional races.
The simple answer appears to be power.
What’s left of Democrats’ shattered hopes and dreams is to take majority control of the U.S. House, where they can resume impeaching Donald Trump on a regular basis.
The race wasn’t called for the traditionally conservative 3rd congressional District until well into Wednesday after Aspenite Adam Frisch finally conceded to GOP Jeff Hurd, and to the reality that he couldn’t beat the 12,000-vote spread.
The 3rd District race is on Democrats’ watch list as a seat to flip to take power in the U.S. House.
Also on the watch list is Colorado’s 8th Congressional District where counting will resume on Thursday.
Freshman Democrat Yadira Caraveo is leading Republican challenger Gabe Evans by 3,900 votes.
The New York Times reports it took Colorado only one day in 2020 to report 95% of the votes, but in the 2022 midterms it took four days.
And so we wait.
