As Democrats begin navel gazing to examine why voters don’t like them or their candidates anymore, some already have their eyes on protecting Colorado’s U.S. Senate seat now held by John Hickenlooper.
Will they repeat the critical mistake that played a huge part in losing the White House by propping up an old man past his prime for reelection in the hopes that voters won’t notice?

We couldn’t help but notice this nugget of dissention amongst all the Democrats congratulating themselves for winning Colorado for Kamala.
If Hickenlooper runs for reelection for Senate 2026, he’ll be 80 at the end of that term.
Should CO Dems challenge him or ask him to step aside?
CO is blue but many folks point to Biden failing to step aside as a key issue. Does Hickenlooper’s age leave us uniquely vulnerable?

We suspect it’s a trick question, and not just because it’s posed by a party activist who’s part of Denver Democrats’ leadership team.
Hickenlooper is clearly past his prime and hasn’t done jack shit to improve the lives of Colorado voters since he was elected to the Senate.
But we fear that so long as Trump’s in office and his name can be waved in front of Colorado’s easily frightened Democrats as the boogeyman who will incarcerate, deport, enslave, and deny them the right to abort unwanted babies while forcing them to read Bibles, Democrats in this state would elect a dog to the Senate before crossing party lines in the next Senate race.
So the answer seems to be that even Hickenlooper can be reelected in Colorado.
