Thanksgiving is still way more expensive than before the pandemic, especially in western states where a meal for 10 people will cost nearly $100 this year.
That’s according to the non-political blaming American Farm Bureau Federation’s 39th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey.
They ask that we keep in mind farmers are also struggling to make ends meet, and to be thankful that the U.S. has one of the most affordable food supplies in the world.
“We should all be thankful that we live in a country with such an abundant food supply,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “We are seeing modest improvements in the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for a second year, but America’s families, including farm families, are still being hurt by high inflation.”
Amen brother.
And yet, we will ensure family members who voted for a continuation of Bidenomic policies knows just how much more Thanksgiving dinner costs this year because of their destructive voting habits, and will likely charge them for dessert.
While inflation has eased up just a bit this year over last, Thanksgiving dinner is still 19% higher than in 2019, the farm bureau reports.
The most affordable food items are in the south while the least affordable are in the west.
Let’s review:
The classic meal for 10 people is $58 bucks in the south, $67 in the west for turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls, peas, cranberries, a veggie tray, and pumpkin pie with whipped cream.
In an expanded menu that recognizes changes in Thanksgiving dinner traditions, the Farm Bureau also included boneless ham, Russet potatoes and frozen green beans, that hikes prices to $81 in the south and more than $93 in the west.
It’s important to note that neither menu included the essential side dish for this annual meal and that’s macaroni and cheese. The unboxed version pushes the overall price closer to $100.
And yet our economic burden still feels a little lighter this year with the knowledge that Bidenomics along with its namesake and sidekick will all be history in a couple of months.
Our list of things to be thankful for this year got a lot longer this month, and we can’t wait to share that news with our family and friends this holiday season!
