A new study reveals Denver spent an eye-bulging — jaw-dropping — $356 million in taxpayer dollars to support the migrant rush over Biden’s open borders since December 2022.
That amounts to nearly $8,000 per migrant, according to the Common Sense Institute.
From the updated report that includes costs through November:
About 45,000 migrants have arrived in the Denver metro area since December 2022. It is unknown how many of the people receiving services have entered the country legally or illegally. The city estimates roughly half have remained in the metro area.
PeakNation™ will recall Denver Mayor Johnston slashed services for city residents to cover the costs, all the while welcoming even more to Sanctuary City.
Now Johnston is threatening to use police and promoting civil unrest if immigration officials dare to deport criminals in Colorado jails for all crimes, not just the ones progressives deem as violent. And that line keeps moving.
The report includes $228 million in education costs to cover the 16,200 migrants enrolled in Denver metro schools — about 2% of the state’s budget just for this school year.
The city spent $79 million for shelter and housing assistance that included six months’ rent, plus food and free childcare.
About $7.5 million was spent on transportation for Sanctuary City Denver to unload the migrants on other cities like Chicago and New York.
Denver Health reported $10 million of spending on migrants in 2023, the report said.
Denver has already cut back significantly on migrant spending for 2025 to just $12.5 million, and that was announced before the election.
Maybe Trump can save taxpayers even more money when the border is controlled to allow legal migration instead of caravans crashing through fencing we’ve experienced under the current administration.
You’re welcome.
