Detainees at the Aurora immigration facility escaped this week and are still at large but the media could care less except to fuel a fight between local law enforcement and ICE.
Reporters aren’t the least bit curious how the two escapees, and only those two, knew that one back door was unlocked during a power failure.
Why was there a power failure and how does that affect the security of the center? So-called journalists don’t seem to care enough to find out.
How does the surrounding community feel about the fact that local police refused to respond when called?
Or at the very flipping least, why Aurora PD couldn’t even issue a BOLO alert for their officers to be on the lookout?
And while we’re grandstanding, since when does the media think the public doesn’t care about any jail break as it relates to their own safety?
Only since it involved suspected criminals in this country illegally and facing deportation, apparently.
Because as George Orwell’s dystopian society in “1984” taught us, some inmates are more equal than others.
And the media are likely cheering these guys on to freedom to steal cars and commit crimes again.
Joel Jose Gonzalez-Gonzalez,32, is one of those escapees. He was arrested twice this year for felony motor vehicle theft plus drug charges with a court date set for April. Somehow, that got reduced to a lone misdemeanor charge for fraud with a credit card device. He entered the U.S. in 2013 and violated the terms of his admission, according to reports.
Geilond Vido-Romero, 24, was first arrested by local police in Castle Rock but the media doesn’t know why. What we do know is that a judge on Feb. 18 ordered the Venezuelan migrant be deported. We would ask, why was he still here?
But our establishment media doesn’t care about all that. What they are digging into is the timelines of communication between police agencies to blame ICE for, whatever.
The long and short of it is, it did take several hours to discover the detainees missing, but rather than offer any assistance whatsoever, Aurora PD blew them off.
ICE told police they were contacting them as soon as they confirmed the escape, but since it was a cold escape not reported within 15 minutes, it wasn’t worth offering their help.
The men were first discovered missing about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, we’re assuming after a search of the facility and immediate grounds the local police were called at 2:30 a.m.
They declined to respond, but did show up several hours later to make a written report of the escape for their files.
Instead of stirring the dissention that already exists between local and federal law enforcement because of Colorado’s sanctuary state laws that prohibits cooperation, the media would do well to stop behaving like illegal migrant advocates and instead question what best serves the surrounding community affected by the escape and what response they would expect from their local police.
But Coloradans will finally get their say on this whole sanctuary state hands-off policy of our law enforcement, to whom we pay taxes to protect us from all criminals, not just the ones here legally.
Michale Fields, president of Advance Colorado, is the only Republican to get things done in this state because he bypasses the legislature and goes straight to the voters with successful ballot measures that protects taxpayers’ wallets.
And now Fields has one for just this occasion, to change our wayward sanctuary laws.
Real leadership is changing bad laws. Denver shouldn’t be a sanctuary city.

The ballot measure would mandate state and local law enforcement cooperate with federal authorities when dealing with violent criminals or repeat offenders.
“We have (citizen-initiated) ballot measures in Colorado for a reason, and it’s to have a check over elected officials,” Fields said.
Amen, brother.
