Did U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette even know that the caucus was held Tuesday night? Her campaign twitter account doesn’t mention it or ask for support, and her lack of enthusiasm was duly noted. Perhaps she is not aware that she even has a Democratic primary opponent?
My source in this Dem precinct caucus tells me they ended up backing one of @RepDianaDeGette’s opponents, because “the general feeling was that she wasn’t doing enough with her position and maybe she needs a wake up call.” #COcaucus pic.twitter.com/WAd7wTaQCt

Ya think? We’re still waiting on an explanation from DeGette about her former IT staffer, Imran Awan, who is under investigation for potential security breaches into congressional computers.
She’s probably keeping a low profile, because Awan is scheduled to appear in court today
Meanwhile, DeGette’s opponent, Saira Rao, seemed a little insecure about her own chances, which were based purely on appearances. She retweeted this:
#caucus Per normal, this room is full of elderly white people. I know my neighborhood is diverse, young, and engaged, but the caucus process is designed to entrench power for the wealthy & privileged. At 42, I am the youngest person in this room except for campaign volunteers.

And added her own two cents:
I was delighted to #caucus but the process favors those w privilege to spend a night caucusing. Few folks have that luxury. #copolitics

Democracy is not a luxury, it’s a right guaranteed by the Constitution. It’s not like the caucus dates are set just weeks before, folks have had months to plan and attend.
