Democratic Senate President Leroy Garcia hasn’t been what one would call a profile in courage this legislative session. He tried to save his own a$$ by voting against the Red Flag gun bill while at the same time trying to throw one of his colleagues under the bus. We’re pretty sure this wasn’t the lesson in leadership he was supposed to learn from the military.
But it gets better.
Instead of owning his sh!t at the state legislature, Garcia refused to answer for his puzzling vote, according to 9News.
After Red Flag vote, I waited between Senate Chamber podium and Senate President office, @Leroy_Garcia went out the center doors in the back. I met him halfway. No answer when I asked why he didn’t slow the bill or what he did to change it. Video to come. #coleg #copolitics

And here is the video, which is such a delight to watch.
VIDEO: As promised, here is my attempt to get @Leroy_Garcia on the record after his NO vote on the Red Flag bill. It passed 18-17. Kudos to him for going out the center doors of the Senate to avoid the pickle I had created in the direct path to his office. #coleg #copolitics pic.twitter.com/6huIJgcjDi

His vote was pure, craven politics. That’s fine, it’s cool. But at least have the cojones to stand up and defend the vote, especially as the highest ranking Democrat.
What a hero.
