U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet can’t keep his positions straight when it comes to the filibuster —supporting it when it suits him, opposing the filibuster when it does not.
As the Senate is now evenly split 50-50 with Vice President Harris as the tie-breaking vote giving Democrats control, Bennet opposes the filibuster because it requires two-thirds of a vote to break the filibuster and pass a bill.
Read my op-ed in The Colorado Sun today about why I have argued, for some time, 51 Senators need to be able to decide to pass legislation: https://t.co/mJ8wkLpnMU

And yet, when the Dems manipulate the rules in order to bypass the filibuster and still can’t get 51 votes to pass a massive bill stuffed with social welfare and other pork, they cry and complain that’s not fair, either.
Democrat U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West “By God” Virginia should not have the power of one vote to block their bill, they try and argue.
And yet, there are 50 Republicans who also oppose the bill, which is now on a track to failure because it can’t get 51 votes to pass.
Joe Biden made a campaign promise that if elected, he would work across party lines to get important legislation passed on a bipartisan vote.
And yet, the only senators whom Biden has negotiated with on this bill are Democrats.
We read the letter you signed 4 years arguing against getting rid of the filibuster. Coloradans can see through your shameless flip-flops.
There is bipartisan opposition to the Build Back Broke legislation. Even a Dem Senator says it would increase inflation. #copolitics https://t.co/1QcgCNUXCu pic.twitter.com/1rCz1zcXLM

Instead of trying to rig the rules to pass bad bills, Democrats might considering writing legislation that is actually worth supporting.
