Republican Pam Anderson has emerged as the adult in the room in the race for Colorado’s Secretary of State against Democrat incumbent Jena Griswold and persistent trouble maker Tina Peters.

In a more diplomatic fashion than this, Anderson essentially told the squabbling women to knock off the political cat fight and act like professionals.

Only Anderson said it like this:

“The contrast for voters for both the primary and the general has never been more clear.  This office should be filled by a trusted and proven professional, not by politicians only interested in using it as a political football. I believe in the oath I took three times as an experienced election official to uphold all the laws of Colorado. I will be a fair referee — not fuel the fire of mistrust. It is time to restore Colorado’s tradition of professional and non-partisan leadership in the Secretary of State’s office.”

For those of you living under a rock, the trouble started when Peters went rouge after the presidential election and embarked on a quest to prove voting machines were just as evil as Griswold, a political hack abusing her position for partisan politics the moment she was elected.

Griswold in turn brought down the law from ever corner of the Democrat and Republican universe on Peters, and in a brazen move had her essentially removed from her duties as election clerk.

From there, the story takes on a plot twist similar to “House of Cards” meets “Dumb and Dumber.”

Just days ago we all saw video of Peters resisting arrest and kicking at police officers, and now she wants to run in the GOP primary for Secretary of State.

Whatever Peters did to the voting machines last year is now for the courts to decide.

Clearly, her actions since then are not those of an upstanding and responsible adult Coloradans will entrust with the Secretary of State’s office.

And Griswold has only added fuel to the fire to fan the flames of her own political career.

Coloradans would be well served to see both Griswold and Peters elected out of office.
