The Zero Population crowd is taking things to the extreme in today’s Democrat Party as witnessed at their national convention in Chicago.

Back in the 60s and 70s when the idea of zero population growth was promoted as part of the left flank of the environmental movement, believers thought the planet faced a water and food shortage and so humans needed to stop procreating so much.

It was the climate change, existential threat of that time.

Now it appears climate change is taking a back seat to the issue of abortion, which was bizarrely celebrated during the convention’s first night with applause lines from some speakers, tragic stories from others.

Democrats have even parked a mobile abortion and vasectomies van outside the convention hall, operated by Planned Parenthood of course, for the convenience of delegates, elected officials, journalists, or protestors.

Ironically, former State Rep. Ken Salazar is at the convention, and reports after the first night of pro choice speeches that Democrats are showing the country how much they care about human beings.

Awkward.

Abortion advocates used to preach that such medical procedures would and should be rare, safe, and legal.

Yet more than one million abortions were legally performed last year in the U.S. alone. That’s still an increase after Roe v. Wade was reversed and abortion laws were left to the states, according to National Public Radio.

If one million abortions are needed annually because of rape, incest or life of the mother, surely Democrats would be advocating for better pre-natal care or punishment of sexual offenders?

The NPR article notes that medication abortions increased by 63%.

Medical abortions cost about $800 and are available through Planned Parenthood, compared to birth control pills that are free with most insurance plans.

Just seemed worth mentioning …

The New York Times meanwhile reports the DNC abortion wagon is already booked solid for the convention and has a waiting list for vasectomies.

The Times said the presence of the mobile abortion clinic “underscores the way this convention, more than any other, is going to be a head-on display of a new, unbridled abortion politics.”

Missing from the conversation is whether vasectomies should be available to men and women, or whether women and men deserve access to abortion.

Perhaps that’s because Democrats finally learned how to define a woman — a Democrat running for president.
