An ethics committee was finally chosen this week to investigate Democrat state Sen. Sonya Jaquez Lewis of Longmont for mistreating and withholding pay from employees.
The charges against her were brought by the Political Workers Guild on behalf of five former employees and include claims an employee had to do her personal yardwork and bartend at a fundraiser.
The Denver Post reports the investigation “could ultimately lead to a reprimand or removal from office.”
And yet, the senator chosen to chair the ethics panel once again is socialist Julie Gonzales of Denver.
PeakNation™ will recall Gonzales also led the investigation last year into Sen. Faith Winters for showing up intoxicated at a Northglenn hearing about a halfway house for sex offenders near a school.
Winters admitted to her intoxicated state, and the panel determined she had violated the Senate’s ethical standards in failing to promote public confidence and integrity.
However, they declined to recommend censure or expulsion and basically told her not to do it again.
The members of the panel looking into claims against Lewis include Gonzales and fellow Democrat Sens. Mike Weissman and Dylan Roberts.
Additionally, the two Republicans selected to serve on the panel include Cleave Simpson and vice chair as John Carson.
The complaint against Lewis has yet to be made public.
Stay tuned.
