On Saturday at their State Central Committee meeting, Democrats elected a new Chairman in Rick Palacio, staffer for House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD). Leaving the position after three terms is Pat Waak, who was fawned over by all the Democrat big wigs at the annual Jefferson Jackson fundraising dinner after the election.
Coming back from DC, with his tail between his legs, Palacio helped preside over one of the largest losses in Congressional history. As Deputy Director for Member Services for Nancy Pelosi's top Deputy he sure didn't do a very good job retaining those Members.
Last November Democrats lost 63 seats, the largest midterm election shellacking since 1938. It's also one of the shortest times in history for a party to control the House of Representatives. The Democrats, under Palacio's boss, only held onto control of the House for four years. Previously Republicans held it for 12 years and Democrats for 40 years before that.
If this is how Palacio manages politicians then we wish him equally good luck here in Colorado. With a simmering civil war between Democrats in the legislature and Gov. Hickenlooper, he'll have his work cut out for him.
No wonder the Democrat party is so appealing to our young people! Is this guy as young as he looks? And what exactly does this guy know about Colorado politics if he’s been stuck in DC for the past who knows how long? Typical out-of-touch Democrat
His pic looks like an opening shot from the Real World.
It’s not like the congressional losses were his fault. 2010 was definitely just a fluke, a wave year for Republicans. His job would have been more to lose as few as he could.
CODA does everything for Dems anyway. He’s just a figurehead with no real impact.
