As the Colorado legislature enters into the final gun debates for the first tranche of gun control legislation, we’d like to remind readers that even the Democrat Party doesn’t think its gun legislation is going to move the needle. According to HB1226 sponsor Rep. Claire Levy (D-Boulder), her bill, which would render women on college campuses defenseless, may not even reduce violent crime.
Watch the Revealing Politics video, in which Levy makes no guarantees about her bill:
From the video:
“I make no assertion that this bill will either increase or reduce violent crime, that is not the premise of the bill.”
So, if this bill likely will not reduce violent crime, and it’s not meant to, what exactly is the point of this bill? Earlier this week, several rape victims testified that concealed carry was important to their safety on college campuses. Are Colorado Democrats disarming vulnerable women for naught?
Better not to create situations which are conducive to people wanting to riot, no?
We have laws. Enforce the ones we have and make tougher penalties for criminals, not tougher laws for law abiding citizens.
well, I am so proud, of a democrat for standing up finally and telling the truth. None of these laws affect the criminals. The government has been using the kids in Newtown to move an agenda, that is unconstitutional. THE ONLY WEAPONS, I CAN UNDERSTAND MAKING VERY DIFFICULT TO GET, WOULD BE AUTOMATIC, FULLY AUTOMATIC, TANKS, DRONES (LOL), ECT. and I say difficult to get, because from what I gather our constitution says we can be just as well armed as our government. I agree, we should be able to be sure we can protect our families. I don not own a weapon and neither does my sister in Colorado, but I want to know that if a riot breaks out a city down the road or a state across the line, I can send my husband to buy weapons to protect our home our family and our self. I would also like to say, I never want my children or my grandchildren to have to fight for their right to bear arms.
