Today, former FBI Director James Comey answered questions about a wide range of topics regarding his dismissal and his tempestuous relationship with President Donald Trump. Democrats took this opportunity to attempt to seize the moral high ground.

There’s just one problem.

The real story here is that there was a President who tried to sway the 2016 election, but it wasn’t President Trump – it was President Clinton. Watch the clip below:

That’s why Colorado Democrat U.S. Rep. Diana Degette’s statement about the hearing was so tone deaf:

“By Mr. Comey’s account and those of others, the President of the United States appears to have tried to influence the FBI’s investigation concerning the Trump campaign, Trump White House personnel and Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election. What remains unclear is the full extent of the administration’s attempts to sway the FBI inquiry and the extent of Russia’s influence on our country’s politics, both last year and now.”

Comey explicitly said that Trump did not try to sway the Russia investigation. But he did explicitly say that President Clinton and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch tried to sway the 2016 election by minimizing the seriousness of the FBI investigation into Clinton’s emails.

Degette’s refusal to acknowledge this bombshell while simultaneously trying to smear President Trump’s name is disingenuous at best, reprehensible at worst. Democrats actually tried to influence an election, which is proven in Comey’s testimony.  The major takeaway from today is that President Trump exercised his constitutional powers and (former) President Bill Clinton tried to fix his wife’s electoral disaster.

Democrats’ hypocrisy today is breathtaking.
