Liberal Rep. Jared Polis has a renewed interest in townhalls since declaring for Governor. Of course, he was never as negligent about not having townhalls like Sen. Michael Bennet. According to the Coloradoan, Polis will host three townhalls across Berthoud, Wellington, and Fort Collins. The newspaper was very clear to note that this was not a campaign event, but an official event as a Congressman. From the Coloradoan:

“Polis, who was elected to Congress in 2008, is also running for governor of Colorado, though this event is in his capacity as a congressman.”

Polis is a bajillionaire. Why not just be upfront with people and pay for it himself instead of forcing taxpayers to front the cost of his campaign stops? If it’s not about money, does he think his Congressional title conveys some kind of status? It sure didn’t for Nancy Pelosi who overlooked him for leadership positions over and over again.

Either way, it just looks bad to campaign on the taxpayers’ dime, especially when he can well afford to pay for logistics himself.
