U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette has shrugged off the scandal of her former IT staffer now indicted for fraud, because she says he was kicked off the congressional computer system and did not have access to the personal information of Congress or their constituents.

But now it turns out that staffer, Imran Awan, actually created a secret email account on the House system that he is still using while he is under investigation for alleged cybersecurity violations, the Daily Caller reports.

This is particularly concerning, because the Pakistani national linked the fake address to the name of a top congressional staffer who handles homeland security and intelligence issues.

It’s not fully known what Awan was using the false email account for, but it’s certainly disconcerting that he hijacked the name of a staffer dealing with intelligence to stay connected to the congressional computer system.

We think DeGette should show just a little more concern about what has happening with her computer security than she has so far been willing to express.
