Tom Steyer

You’d think that donor Tom Steyer, who has given, ahem, liberally to Colorado Democrats, would be done meddling in politics after his abysmal track record. You would be wrong. In fact, he’s doubling down and he has some demands. He wants to make impeachment of Trump a defining campaign issue in the 2018 midterm elections, and has sent a letter to Democratic Senators and Representatives as well as respective House and Senate campaign committees expressing his desire to see Democrats jump on his bandwagon.

If we were Democrats, we’d instead tell him to jump off a cliff. First, he tried to support former U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, but Udall went down in flames to current U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner. Then, last year, he plowed money into trying to help take back the State Senate for Democrats. Well, let’s just say that the State Senate is controlled by Republicans. Democrats might consider listening to what Steyer wants to do…and, then, doing the opposite. His political barometer seems way off.

Even if members of the public do not particularly like Trump, it’s not clear that they like further chaos either. But, if a Democratic donor says jump, we suspect Democrats jump.
