Denver voters went on a wild spending spree during Tuesday’s election to put the city in debt by nearly $1 billion for government buildings, libraries, cultural facilities, to build sidewalks and open new parks. Pretty much something for everyone with their hands in government pockets.

In other words, it’s work the city has let lapse while it was spending tax dollars on other stuff. Plus, handouts to a lot of non-government organizations so they can have prettier buildings as well.

Well, the government will now have its hands in the voters’ pocket when they have to pay back all of those bonds.

That’s the thing about government spending, it don’t come free.
