Chipotle may have been grilled about it’s food integrity last year, but this year the company plans to serve up bonuses to its employees thanks to the Trump Tax Cuts. According to CNBC, hourly workers could earn up to a $250 bonus and general manager could earn up to $1,000. Additionally, Chipotle will expand its benefits program, including paid maternity leave, short-term disability, and life insurance, to hourly restaurant managers. We assume these are the millionaires that Democrats think benefited from the tax cuts.
While Democratic leadership mocks the pittance of $1,000 extra in paychecks, here’s what Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had to say about the tax break:
“Where Democrats see ‘crumbs,’ American see more money in their pockets….As new withholding tables take effect, 90 percent of Americans will see more take-home pay in their paychecks thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The average family of four will save more than $2,000 this year alone…. From bonuses to wage increases and higher 401(k) contributions, tax reform is making life easier for hardworking people and families nationwide. And that’s what this is really all about.”
Why aren’t Democrats cheering for the little guys here?
In addition, we benefit, too. Chipotle will set aside one-third of the $40-50 million tax savings for its employees and the rest will enhance the dining experience for customers. Sadly, we still have to pay extra for guacamole.
