If your fingers are itching to sign a petition, here’s one for you.

While the Initiative 97 supporters have had a massively rocky start to their campaign, with one of their signature gatherers paid to leave the state – and taking their signatures with them – normal Coloradans have a chance to stand up to these environmental extremists who are looking to shut down the state’s most important industry and most prolific job creator – the oil and gas industry.

Energy Citizens, a grassroots organization of Coloradans who support the state’s robust energy industry, is collecting signatures against this destructive ballot initiative that would increase drilling setbacks to 2,500 feet from houses, schools, and other buildings, effectively shutting down new exploration in some of the state’s most important counties for the development of natural resources.

You can get online today and sign the Energy Citizens petition here. It’s a small way to stand up against folks who are trying to turn Colorado into California.

Oh, and if you accidentally signed the petitions to get Initiative 97 on the ballot believing the falsehoods that signature collections spouted, there is a way to redeem yourself. Here is a link to a form that allows you withdraw your name. Just do it.
