We broke the news recently that ProgressNow Colorado received a taxpayer funded forgivable loan between $150,000 and $350,000 as part of the COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) that was meant to provide relief for small businesses during the pandemic.

Other liberal groups around the country also accepted the taxpayer bailout, but some lefty organizations are returning the money after being criticized by lawmakers in their own party.

Politico says the Florida Democratic Party “was returning at least $780,000 in small-business loans after its own lawmakers criticized the acceptance of the money as highly questionable if not illegal and unethical. The party immediately applied for the loan … even though there was discussion at the time that the money should go to neither lobbyists nor political causes.”

While Florida Democrats believe PPP funds used by party support groups is “highly questionable if not illegal and unethical,” Democrats here remain silent on ProgressNow Colorado’s decision to keep the bailout.

Leading Colorado Democrats including U.S. Senate candidate John Hickenlooper, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, Gov. Jared Polis, U.S. Reps. Joe Neguse, Jason Crowe, Diana Degette, and Ed Perlmutter have not called for ProgressNow Colorado to return the money.

It’s disappointing Colorado’s liberal elite seem perfectly fine with a dark-money liberal group like ProgressNow Colorado stealing money from taxpayers to fund their far-left causes, but not at all surprising.

While the Colorado media has been completely silent on the matter, we all know if a Colorado Republican political organization accepted this money, the liberal media and every single Democrat politician would be in full meltdown mode.
