Countless Americans remain stranded in Afghanistan, 13 U.S. service members have been killed in an ISIS terrorist attack, and a Taliban-enforced withdrawal deadline is looming.

A sentence like that would have sounded far-fetched under virtually any other recent administration, but that is precisely where America finds itself with President Biden and Afghanistan.

Biden’s remarks following Thursday’s terrorist attack outside Hamid Karzai International Airport were equally detached and incoherent.

Beyond pledging revenge against ISIS-K for targeting American troops outside the airport, Biden appeared to largely double down on his existing failed evacuation strategy.

The President all but admitted his slipshod surrender to the Taliban will leave an indefinite amount of Americans and our Afghan allies behind after troops pull out by August 31st.

An image of Biden’s head down amid a tense exchange with Fox News was also particularly remarkable. Observers shared it across social media, with many predicting it will be a defining image of Biden’s time in office.

Former Obama officials and mainstream media reporters alike acknowledged Thursday’s horrific terrorist attack that left at least 13 troops and 60 Afghans dead is only the beginning of Afghanistan’s terrorist resurgence.

The reaction among Colorado Democrats has been predictable.

With the notable exception of Rep. Jason Crow, Colorado Democrats have all thrown their support behind President Biden’s handling of this disastrous withdrawal and the doomed August 31st deadline.

Given the Biden administration’s lack of advance planning, it is no longer logistically possible to evacuate all Americans and our Afghan partners by the end of the month.

That’s a problem because Biden officials have reportedly given the Taliban a list of every U.S. Afghan ally that remains in the country.

“Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list,” one defense official told Politico.

After the terrorist attacks Thursday, New Jersey Democrat Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Bob Menendez hit the Biden administration for outsourcing American security at the airport to the Taliban.

“As we wait for more details to come in, one thing is clear: We can’t trust the Taliban with Americans’ security.”

The Biden administration’s incompetence is no longer just costing innocent Afghans their lives. Colorado Democrats can’t sit back and ignore this any longer.

The walls are closing in on the President, and Democrats can either start exercising some leadership and accountability in Congress or they will go down with him.
