With voting underway and nearly a half million ballots already cast; Democrat U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet clearly wins the title of Daddy Warbucks having raised the largest campaign war chest at more than $21 million.
Bennet goes into the final stretch with nearly $3 million cash on hand. Overall, it’s an obscene amount of money, and rather cocky to keep that much tucked away in the last days with control of the Senate at stake.
But that’s how Democrats roll in Colorado, cocksure with money to burn.
Republican nominee Joe O’Dea has raised a respectable $7.2 million and has a little under a half million still in the bank.
Sandra Fish over at the Colorado Sun has kept a running tab on who’s spending what and where.
Her figures show Gov. Polis will skate in second place with most cash raised, but with the honor of having pillaged nearly all of it from his own pockets.
Polis donated about $11 million to his own campaign, and has $1.6 million cash on hand.
That’s compared to GOP opponent Heidi Ganahl who has already spent nearly $3 million and has just over $342,000 to pay the bills through Nov. 8.
Bennet is also the clear winner in ad buys, followed by Polis which blessedly will all end in just 11 days.
Democrats outraised Republicans in the attorney general, Secretary of State, and treasurer races as well.
In the congressional races, Republican Lauren Boebert led the pack with what could be a record for congressional fundraising in Colorado.
Democrats have mercilessly mocked Boebert’s self-promoting tweets, now they see what that got her — nearly $7 million.
Her Aspen Democrat opponent raised $5.2 million and goes into the election showing more in the bank than Boebert — $743,000 compared to her nearly $614,000.
