Colorado’s U.S. senators are showing their true colors by taking the side of criminals and gang members in this country illegally instead of the lawful U.S. citizens they were elected to protect from crime.

The priorities of far-left Democrats have always been a little twisted.

Now even their so-called moderates are embracing this new radicalism that demands special treatment to keep dangerous people on our streets who have no legitimate business to even be in the U.S.

Case in point, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet hasn’t said a peep about victims of crime in Colorado by perpetrators who cross our borders illegally to do harm.

Bennet took no action when the Jefferson County Sheriff ignored an ICE detainer in November on a Venezuelan national jailed for raping a 14-year old. The feds finally tracked down Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo and now he faces deportation, unless Bennet intervenes on his behalf, too.

Then there’s the case of Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, a Mexican national whose semi-truck crashed near Conifer last year wrecking several vehicles and killing Scott Miller.

Despite an ICE detainer, he was released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s office after serving only seven months in November.

Miller’s widow finally got some justice — no help from her senators — by notifying ICE of his release. The feds finally caught up to him and he was deported this week. It was the 18th time Cruz-Mendoza has been deported from the U.S. for numerous crimes, including driving under the influence and possession of drugs, according to news reports.

And now Bennet is defending Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who has a record of spousal abuse and was ordered by the courts to be deported, Two judges also ruled he is a member of the violent MS-13 gang.

The U.S. Supreme Court didn’t order his release, but ruled the administration should “facilitate” his return to the U.S., which Trump did when he met with El Salvador President Nayib Bukele in the Oval office last week.

Bukele declined to extradite Garcia back to the U.S.

So, now what does Bennet expect? That we send our military into a foreign country and kidnap the gang member, and bring him back into the U.S. to continue living here illegally and beating up his wife?

Democrats have surely lost their way.

Bennet was heckled by angry progressives at town hall meetings last month who screamed said he wasn’t representing their interests in Washington, D.C.

Apparently Bennet agrees with them, because he announced three weeks later he would abandon his Senate seat and relocate to Colorado if he’s elected governor.

And if elected, voters can be certain Bennet will continue to prioritize criminal illegal aliens before the interests of Coloradans in this sanctuary state.

Then there’s U.S. Sen. John Hickenlooper, who was also elected to represent Coloradans but is more interested in bringing an El Salvador citizen back to the U.S. to live here illegally with the wife who filed police reports alleging physical abuse.

Hick is shocked to discover that people who break the law are “snatched” off the streets by law enforcement, separated from their families, and if they are in this country illegally, are sent back to their home country.

Garcia was in this country illegally and stood before two judges who ordered his deportation. That’s due process.

As for the senators’ insistence that the government takes orders from unelected judges, that’s not how democracy works.
