Newly elected U.S. Rep. Yadira Caraveo from Colorado’s newly created 8th District has the dishonor of making Roll Call’s Top 10 most vulnerable lawmakers up for reelection next year in the House.
Caraveo is in interesting company — one of only three Democrats to make the list, which was topped by Republican U.S. Rep. George Santos of New York.
She’s one of only two freshman already in trouble.
Roll Call says the rankings are expected to shift over the next 18 month to reflect how tumultuous the 2024 election cycle promises to be. We’re betting money she stays on the list.
Caraveo won in a tight race against state Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer in a district rich in oil and gas that employs tens of thousands of energy workers.
Roll Call reports:
The GOP plans to hit Caraveo for her vote against an energy bill championed by Republicans, but the Democratic freshman said the measure would roll back climate goals.
That’s become Democrats’ unquestioned excuse every time Big Government comes knocking on our door to take away our vehicles, shower heads, gas stoves, and now they’re coming for our dishwashers and washing machines, because they think it affects the weather.
Kirkmeyer’s been fighting the good fight against the Democrat-controlled legislature and hasn’t said yet whether she will take another run at the seat.
We hope she’s considering, because this seat belongs in the red column.
