When Gov. Polis and the Democrat-controlled legislature (*Now with more progressives!) hailed themselves at an end-of-session press conference as being awesome and the saviors of all mankind, they totally left out the part where drug deaths have skyrocketed and they didn’t do anything about it.

As it turns out, drug overdose rates in our state are higher than in any developed country, Fox 31 reports.

Colorado’s drug overdose rate in 2021 was higher than that of any developed country in 2019, the last year for which there is worldwide data, following an uptick in drug deaths beginning in 2020.

According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, Colorado’s drug overdose rate was 31.4 per 100,000 in 2021 – three times Canada’s rate from two years prior, but still in the middle of U.S. rankings.

It’s an astonishing report that lists the U.S. as the highest overdose rate in the world with 22.62 deaths per 100,000, followed by Canada.

If only there was some kind of policy or law to stop drug smugglers from crossing our borders with impunity?

And to maybe make it a crime to like, kill people by selling them deadly drugs.

But Polis and the Democrat-controlled legislature* were too busy plotting how to steal our TABOR refunds and jack up our property taxes to worry about Coloradans overdosing on deadly drugs that are coming from our wide-open southern border.
