A shocking new poll reveals Colorado voters are not as stupid as Gov. Polis thought when he persuaded his Democrat legislature to swindle us out of even more of our hard-earned money through Proposition HH.
Magellan Strategies, which conducted the poll, found that when respondents learn what’s actually in the ballot question, support dramatically dips and opposition mounts.
See? Not stupid.
There’s been so much media spin (shock) on this tax concoction, it’s understandably difficult for the average Coloradan to grasp what the end result of Polis’ plan is going to look like.
Long story short, the tax cut actually raises taxes.
It looks like this.
And the poll is reflecting that voters don’t like getting ripped off once they understand they’re getting ripped off.
The poll was funded by Magellan Strategies to provide elected officials, the media and others with reliable voter opinion data.
“Proposition HH is one of the most complicated ballot measures to be put before Colorado voters,” the company said in a statement.
In a nutshell, the measure would put some limits on how high property taxes would increase next year, while at the same time diminishing payroll tax refunds through the Taxpayer Bill of Rights Act (TABOR).
In other words, property taxes are still going up, and local governments and school boards can still pass even more property taxes, and in exchange you have to pay higher payroll taxes until you’ve basically surrendered your TABOR refund.
