A Denver socialist Democrat pushed her bill to legalize the illegal use of deadly drugs across Colorado in taxpayer funded injection centers through a state House committee on a party line vote last week.
Democrats voting along with bill sponsor state Rep. Elisabeth Epps were fellow socialist Tim Hernandez, as well as Lindsey Daugherty, Mary Young, Kyle Brown, Regina English, Eliza Hamrick, Sheila Lieder, Karen McCormick, and David Ortiz.
Republicans voting against it were Mary Bradfield, Brandi Bradley, Richard Holtorf, and Ron Weinberg.
Voters, please make a note of this.
Colorado Politics reports Epps blamed drug overdose deaths on the policy choices of politicians.
“In Colorado, we are suffering, as every corner of this country is, with losing our neighbors and our loved ones to preventable overdose deaths,” said bill sponsor, Rep. Elisabeth Epps, D- Denver. “Those deaths are overwhelmingly the result of policy choices, and while often what we can do in our role in this body is limited, one thing we can do is correct choices and make better ones …”
We would argue the better policy choices would be to first close Biden’s open border, then free up federal agents to patrol the border instead of operating welcome centers to everyone in the world who has the not-so-secret password, “asylum.”
That seems like a better choice than holding the needle for kids wanting to experiment with deadly drugs.
A state law enforcement association says Epps’ measure would not restrict the age of users, and comes with no guidance as to when police could interfere at these sites hosting federally illegal activities, Colorado Politics reported.
“This is the only crime I’m aware of where the state is overtly considering that if you successfully complete the elements of the crime and get the evidence to a physical location, you’ll be able to safely enjoy the proceeds of that crime while consuming the evidence,” said Commerce City Deputy Police Chief Greg Sadar.
Are police only allowed when violence breaks out? When desperate users try to rob the place for drugs? When overdoses still occur?
Epps and the far-left agenda aren’t trying to stop the use of Fentanyl, Heroin, or meth.
This is a backdoor way to legalize hardcore drugs with nanny government helping to keep users down in the gutter, forever in need of government social services and voting every election for the soulless political hacks who would have them live like that.
The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.
