The Democrat-controlled legislature must be very proud of that special panel it created to placate pissed off home and property owners stuck with paying skyrocketing property taxes that were hyper inflated by Bidenflation.
The commission has turned out to be just as impotent as the legislature, refusing to even consider cutting wasteful government spending, and instead demanding workers keep forking over their wages to Big Nanny Government.
The Commission on Property Tax led by state Rep. Chris Hansen (D-Denver) will soon be sending their weak-kneed solutions up to the legislature, and so far they’ve come up with … not capping skyrocketing property taxes caused by inflation.
Instead, The Sum & Substance reports the commission is “more interested in nuanced solutions that take the sting away from residents and business owners rather than reducing tax revenues.”
The most popular idea the commission came up with is to let property owners pay their taxes in monthly increments to avoid huge lump sum payments.
Sound familiar?
That’s because it’s basically the escrow system most property owners already use to pay their taxes and insurance in monthly increments through their mortgage lenders to avoid paying huge lump sums.
Way to go, brain trust. You’ve reinvited the wheel.
The other idea is to let the property taxes keep going sky high while allowing us poor saps to make payments over several years.
This would mean that local governments and school districts wouldn’t get a huge spike in revenues immediately, but they would receive some increase right away and then get the same amount of new revenue spread out over future years.
The underlying theme here, is that government is going to keep taking more and more of your money because funding bureaucrats is more important than funding your own family.
Lessons learned — a Democrat-run government is not willing to trim the fat or make any sacrifices during the inflated economy that the inflated government created.
Instead, taxpayers are stuck with the burden of Democrats voting those idiots into office then refusing to hold them accountable.
Pay attention to the November ballot. That way looks to be the only avenue to rein in greedy lawmakers.
Surprising no one, the Property Tax Task Force isn’t interested in reducing property taxes. This is exactly why voters need the final say. Let’s cut and cap property taxes this November. #copolitics #coleg https://t.co/z1BeQnBela
