The first quarter fundraising numbers are in for Colorado’s GOP candidates in the state’s highly competitive congressional races and reveals some surprising details.
In the 5th District race to replace Doug Lamborn, the Republican primary is set between the state’s GOP Chairman Dave Williams and political activist Jeff Crank.
Crank has outraised Williams pulling in more than $300,000 to Williams $71,000.
Williams topped off his fundraising effort with a $100,000 personal loan to his campaign, yet the chairman is still listed as nearly $200,000 in debt from previous campaigns.
With just two months to go until the June Republican primary, Williams has $166,200 in the bank while Crank has $228,000.
In the packed race for the 4th District to replace Ken Buck, Lauren Boebert leads the way in fundraising, to no one’s surprise.
Boebert attracts a national audience, so her numbers are always strong. Yet in the first quarter of raising money on the east side of the state versus her current home on the Western Slope, her $462,000 is one of her weakest fundraising quarters in her political career, reports the Colorado Sun.
Still, Boebert heads into the last laps of the campaign trail with nearly $1 million in the bank, while her closest competitor former state Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg is holding nearly a quarter million.
Sonnenberg’s quarterly haul was $158,000, less than the $180,000 raised by Deborah Flora, but she enters the stretch in a distant third place with $167,000 in the bank.
Deep in the field is Mike Lynch, who raised $42,000 but only has about $3,000 in the bank, and Richard Holtorf, who raised $31,000 but has nearly $100,000 cash on hand.
